Spun Beam
Spun Beam is part of a series of tension pieces that explore the potential of thread to create and define volumes of light through tension.
Balancing material choice and weight, the hand woven threads are held in tension by the weight of the linear light which in turn creates the three dimensional form. Through layering, the threads create is an interference pattern, or moire, which creates the illusion of movement with the shifting gaze of the viewer.
