Folium
Folium is a site specific installation for The Grove, comissioned and developed in collaboration with Martin Hulbert Design.
Conceived to bring nature indoors, Folium is a dynamic series of mobiles made up of three cascading metal leaves that float and gently reconfigure themselves over time. Counterbalanced by a blown glass form, these translucent metal forms are both in equilibrium and a constant state of flux - like nature and man.
In juxtaposition to the hard and cold qualities associated with metal, the Folium leaves are light and fluid. Utilising a woven mesh and a specific cutting pattern, the metal behaves as a living fabric that responds to its environment.
